Welcome!
Hi! This is me, Rikki! Welcome to my site all about young adult novels written in verse! I really enjoy this genre of books, wanted to learn more about it myself and hope to recommend some awesome books to others who like them too! My love of verse novels started after I read Crank by Ellen Hopkins, so that's where we will start!
Novels in Verse
Novels in verse are written as a series of short poems, not usually the rhyming kind, that tell a story about a character or a group of characters.
"The entire story is told in the form of non-rhyming free verse. Very often each section is less than a page in length and only rarely more than two or three pages. Usually each of these sections is given a title to orientate the reader, which may indicate the speaker, or contextualise the content, or point to the core theme. The form lends itself to building each section around a single perspective or thought or voice or incident." -Joy Alexander

Crank
Crank is the story of Kristina and her struggles with an addiction to Crystal Meth. Kristina used to be a good girl, but after she starts using Crystal Meth, her life spirals out of control. She starts doing things she never would have done before and makes choices that change her life forever.
